Waipū Thunder Domes no.1 offgrid eco glamping dome

On arrival we found the driveway to be a challenge for our little car. We love the concept but feel there is a fair way to go to achieve it. Bathroom and cooking facilities in our motor home are of a higher standard. Running hot water in the kitchen would make a huge difference. Found the toilet on a cold and wet night to be rather uncomfortable and a bit far away. We lit the fire to warm the place, which was good until we slept and it went out and it became very cold. Definitely a summer destination.

I adored every moment here and honestly didn’t want to leave! A truly special little piece of New Zealand paradise. I’ll definitely be back. ❤️🌿🌅

10% more effort and it wouod be excellent. Still enjoyed the stay and wouod recommend Positive: Epic views and quirky accomodation is cool Negative: Needed more fire wood being winter. Gets cold when fire not cranking

Positive: I loved the little extras that was done. And then to top it off it started raining and the sound on the tent was just beautiful. The fireplace was amazing not once did I get cold or need extra blankets. The bed was amazing nice and firm. Direction was super clear on where I should go. Just loved it that it had no TV it was just what I needed to force me to relax.

Fabulous Eco Stay Positive: The eco credentials and the comfy bed - one of the best nights sleep we have had. Negative: It was tricky to see out through the plastic window.
